calendarWe aim to provide care of the highest standard and work hard to ensure that our appointment system meets your needs. The reason why our receptionists may ask for details of your medical problem is to ensure that you are given the most appropriate appointment as quickly as possible. We hope it is helpful to explain how you can gain access to a suitable consultation with a health care professional, as follows:-

Ring our main telephone number 01480 406677 to book an appointment at either the main or branch surgery. Telephone lines open at 08:00.

You can also book appointments online via the link above. You need to call at reception to register for this service where you will be given a ‘pin’ number and an explanatory leaflet. Please note that to protect the confidentiality of teenage patients, this service is only available to over 18’s.

Urgent Medical Problems

Problems such as chest pain or breathing difficulties are seen on the same day; if you are the patient’s carer, or are calling from a different address, please give full contact details to the receptionist.

Non-Urgent or Routine Appointments

You can expect to see a GP within 48 hours, although you will have to wait longer if you wish to see a particular doctor. We book appointments in advance to the end of each duty rota. This means that there will usually be up to four weeks appointment availability on our computer system. It is important to note that GP appointments are spread across two sites – this means that our doctors are available part-time at each surgery. On occasions you may be asked to come to the main surgery, particularly in the case of urgent consultations.

Practice nurse/health care assistant appointments are all bookable in advance. It is helpful if you are able to give the receptionist an idea of the reason for your appointment so that necessary equipment can be prepared.

Telephone Consultations

You can book a telephone consultation with a doctor; he or she will ring you on the telephone number you have given. This service is particularly useful for medication enquiries/advice.

Extended Hours

Cedar House is also open for pre-bookable, routine GP appointments on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 18:30 until 20:15. The practice will have a doctor and a practice nurse available on a rota basis each evening.

These appointments are primarily designed for patients who are unable to attend the surgery during the day.

PLEASE  help us to help you by:-

  • being on time for your appointment
  • booking separate appointments for different family members
  • letting us know if you need to cancel
  • ringing for a routine/pre-bookable appointment after 09:00

IMPORTANT NOTE – unfortunately, many appointments are wasted because patients do not let us know that they no longer need to see their doctor. These appointments could be used for other patients. If you do not need your appointment, please contact the surgery to cancel it.Patients who persistently miss appointments will receive a letter from the practice if three appointments are missed in a row without explanation, you may find that you will be asked to find another doctor, and your name will be removed from the practice list.
